Happy Fourth of July! We want to take a moment to remember those who sacrificed to make celebrations like today possible. Shown here are American prisoners of war celebrating the 4th of July 1942 in the Japanese prison camp of Casisange in Malaybalay, on Mindanao, P.I. It was against Japanese regulations and discovery could have meant death, but the men celebrated the occasion anyway. National Archives photo 111-SC-333290.
